I am just a little girl
Lost in the moment
I'm so scared
But don't show it

But don't show it
Hair was straight, glossy straight the way she liked it. As she stared at herself in the mirror she smiled at herself and turned to the side, looking at her profile from the side. The rhinestones shined bright in the light above her. Her mother had outdone herself this time, giving her a gift such as this was one of the best things she could have done. Her favorite part was the way that the zebra print (click)seemed to pull it all off. This all came with a price of course. Such a shirt came with a price though. Only about 500 though, which was more than she spent on her horse, way more. At least her mom had known how to make up for the fact that she wasn't coming to this show, the first one of the year. Maybe she'd have to disappoint Chloe more just so that she'd see what else she could get.
Dakota loaded easily, as usual. She didn't expect anything else from the gentle gelding that she loved so much. Dakota was a lover, he was easy to break, easy to ride, easy with everything. He was an all around show horse and it was a shame that she couldn't have more Dakota's once he was gone. Being a gelding made that impossible, but who knows what kind of equine she'd have on her hands if he was still a stud. Though the foals would be beautiful and lovely, they'd have brains, they'd produce more great ones, but he was a gelding and that was that.
The drive was short, not very long and she maneuvered the trailer into the perfect location under a large oak tree that spread it's branches over the land. Chloe looked at her watch, it was only 7:52 and not a whole lot of people were there yet. It was odd, usually a ton of people showed up to open shows like these, old people, young people, little kids you couldn't believe could even ride. But Chloe was here, she was going to show no matter what.
Dakota stood next to the trailer peering at her as she opened the living quarters door and grabbed her World Champion Pepi, spraying his whole body with the sweet smelling spray. The night before Chloe had put all the bands in his hair, which was tamed right away by the bands and now she lathered on Shine On all over his face.
They went through the morning classes of Halter and Equitation. They placed decently, nothing worth mentioning, though to Chloe, anything less than first wasn't worth mentioning. But now it was time to ride, the thing that Dakota and her trained so hard with that Chloe no longer felt that ache in her thighs after hours of riding.
His trot came perfectly, nice and even and slow, just the way the fashion was these days. Slow was the way every horse was suppose to go. Even in his lope almost every other horse in the arena flew by him. The only problem he had was his left lead, he missed it, but Chloe tipped his nose into the arena and he picked it up right where it should have been. Now she waited nervously for the results, Dakota stood there, throwing his whipcord every once in a while to get rid of a fly that just needed to be removed but other than that there was no movement from the stud. He knew what they were waiting for and he was anticipating to see how well they had done also. Some think horses don't know any better, but they do, they know if they win, if they lose, and they feel bad most of the time that they actually do know that they lost.
I can't figure it out
it's bringing me down
I know
I've got to let it go
and just enjoy the show
it's bringing me down
I know
I've got to let it go
and just enjoy the show
